August 9, 2011 note from Coach Cremisino
Dear Parents and Players,
Thank you for a great summer of basketball! We had a record number of kids take advantage of all the improvement opportunities that were available for players this summer. After 50 hours of camps, 14 practices, 7 tournaments, Tuesday and Thursday night leagues, open gyms, and speed and agility training the improvement in individual players and teams was exciting to see. I want to welcome our freshman players and parents to the high school program. The coaches are very proud of our basketball program and are happy to have you be a part of it. As summer nears the end and thoughts begin to turn toward the new school year I wanted to make you aware of upcoming fall basketball opportunities and events.
If you are interested in playing in Fall League please let me know via email by Friday, August 26th. Incoming freshman through senior are invited to play in the MYAS 5 on 5 fall league at Forest Lake High School. The league will be on consecutive Sundays starting September 18th and ending October 9th. Two games will be played per day. Depending on player response I would like to form Freshman, JV, and Varsity teams. Each team will have 8-10 players. The cost for the league will be $60 per player and will be collected by the coach at the first game. Because the MYAS has team deadlines, late player sign ups run the risk of not being placed on a team.
I am asking all players who plan to tryout for basketball to volunteer to work one Sunday of Fall league at Forest Lake High School. This is one of our best fundraisers and we will use the money we raise to pay for your practice gear (which you get to keep if you make a team). Let me know via email which date you can work and if you prefer am or pm.
Because of the potential for injury, basketball players who are in a fall sport and a member of a varsity team should not play in a fall basketball league. You should though, find time to bounce and shoot a basketball on your own. I plan to have some opportunities for tournament games for you after your fall season has ended. If you are not in a fall sport you should be participating daily in the strength, speed, and conditioning program available at the high school as well as fall basketball. Open gyms will also be available on a regular basis between now and the beginning of the season.
Parents remember one of the biggest impact’s you can have on your son’s basketball experience is to participate actively in our booster club. The Full Court Club meets the third Wednesday of every month at Stella’s at 6:30 pm. The first meeting of the year is August 17th!
The coaching staff is excited about the possibility for another outstanding basketball season. Enjoy the rest of your summer and see you soon!

Note from Coach Cremisino, July 1, 2011
Hi everyone, hope you are having a great summer so far. Summer basketball has been going strong since June 1. During the month we had 50 hours of camp for grades 1-10, Tuesday and Thursday summer night summer league teams playing, two tournaments, 4 open gym nights and 6 practices. Many players are taking part in the new strength, speed and conditioning program at the high school. Summer gets busy and I appreciate all the efforts put in buy not only by the players but also by their families.
From July 1-7 there are no practices, open gyms or weight training sessions. July events planned for basketball are practices on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 am to 10:30 am beginning July 8. Open gyms are Monday nights at 6:30 pm at the high school. We will have a tournament on Monday, July 11 during the day a Concordia College for JV and Varsity teams. We will also have tournament opportunities on the last 3 weekends in July. I will be texting players reminding them to sign up. One day tournaments are $25 and two day tournaments are $30. As of August 1, high school coaches are no longer able to work with players until our season starts again. Thank you again for the opportunity to work with your player, let me know if I can be of any help to you and have a great rest of the summer. . |
