Mom's Breakfast
Basketball moms gathered at the high school early on Sat, Dec 13, 2008 to hear about the basketball program from the coaches, share coffee and muffins and tour the locker room. The boys left handwritten notes on their lockers which made some moms cry. All the moms were impressed with how clean the lockers were - at least on that day.
Honoring the Past
Fifty basketball seasons ago, the 1958-59 Forest Lake team had 20 wins and only a single loss. On Fri, Dec 19

that team was invited back for a celebration.
In attendance from the 1958-59 team were: Billy Morehead, Ziggy Kauls (Mounds View's coach), Ken Anderson, Lee Jasinski, Greg Pepin and coach Kerwin Englehart, along with their families. Juris Kauls, Jerry Kari, Mike Trapanier, Artie Berglund, Mike Casey, Warren Kunshier, Paul Rasmussen, Gale Berggren, Jack Lightfoot, Dave Stankeivicz, DJ Morehead and John Schumacher were also on that team, but unable to attend.
We would like to thank the 1958-59 team for being such an important part of Ranger basketball history. The '58-59 team received a 'Kickin' it Old School t-shirt' and were introduced before the national anthem. Everyone was invited to meet the 1958-59 players in the commons during a post-game reception. Cookies and hot cider were served while the players reminisced.
Alumni Tournament
Five teams made up of past Ranger players competed in the 3rd annual alumni tournament on Sat, Dec 20 2008.
Spaghetti Dinners
Nineteen JV and Varsity boys gather at a parent's house every Thursday evening for a homemade team dinner. Usual fare is spaghetti, Caesar salad and garlic bread. The host parents are always amazed that the boys eat as much as they do, as fast as they do. And when they clear their own plates, the parents are really impressed.

Basketball Pizza Party
The Rangers held a pizza party
after the Saturday, December 6,
Como Park game. Both the girls
and boys basketball teams were
on hand to enjoy pizza, salad and
garlic bread from Mansetti's. About
100 friends and family members
participated.
Game Night Committee
There are many fun events in the works for the 2008-09 season. Lisa Knoop, Julie Riedeman and Deanna Cremisino are heading up the committee that organizes all the activities that go in to each home game: The singing of the national athem, the student pizza giveaway, halftime entertainment, parent night, teacher appreciation, and senior night. Voluneers are welcome. Contact Lisa, Julie or Deanna if you are interested.
Award History
Academic State Champs
In both 2005-2006 and 2006-2007, the Forest Lake boys basketball team was awarded the AAAA Academic State Championship. That means that the boys were THE smartest AAAA basketball team in the state. Only one team per class receives the award each year and it's based on the collective GPA of the entire team. Forest Lake basketball players are a smart bunch. Study hard boys, there's a chance you could win again in 2008-09.
